Combining Breast Surgery Training with other specialties

Breast surgery is a major component of the multidisciplinary care of breast cancer patients. It requires commitment to the skill base required to meet these demands. Breast surgeons can be either single specialisation or more often they combine with other specialties such as Endocrine Surgery, Surgical Oncology (particularly melanoma and sarcoma surgery), General Surgery and/or Rural Surgery.

Breast Surgery PFT needs to stand alone as adequate training and be recognized as such. BreastSurgANZ is committed to facilitating combination training with other sub-specialties but specific requirements of each sub-specialty will need to be met as directed by the PFT committee of the individual specialties involved.
