Position Description

Chris Obrien Lifehouse is an integrated cancer centre across the road from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. This fellowship involves lists with 5 Breast Surgeons, A/Prof Sanjay Warrier (PFT Chair, Breast Surgeon, Head of Breast Cancer Research). A/Prof Cindy Mak (Oncoplastic Chair and Director of Breast Surgery, Breast Surgeon), Dr Belinda Chan (Consultant Breast Surgeon), Dr. Susannah Graham (Consultant Breast Surgeon) and Dr. Fred Azimi (Consultant Breast Surgeon). Key areas of the the fellowship include

The funding for the fellowship is through a private assisting model. A data manager is provided and A/Professor Sanjay Warrier and A/Prof Cindy Mak will direct projects.

Summary Hospital Information

Breast Oncoplastic Surgery:

Above 100: volume displacement, displacement

Breast Reconstruction Surgery:

Likely minimum 50 minimum: 2 stage, 1 stage, lipofilling, often between 3 - 5 LD flaps offering sensory preserving mastectomy as an assistant as well and access to seeing DIEP reconstructions

General and Other Surgery:

General Surgery 'on call' every third Wednesday with the unit. Provides exposure without pulling away from elective operating lists. A strong focus on fellow teaching and training. Encouragement to participate in oncoplastic Masters with Sydney university

Private Consulting:

Mondays in consulting rooms (AM only)

MDT:

MDT 12.30pm every Thursday. Compulsory for fellows to present the cases

Academic & Research:

Strong support for research, Fellows are encouraged to do the Masters of Breast Surgery (University of Sydney). The unit has a data manager and A/Prof Warrier and A/Prof Mak will direct appropriate projects

Funded:

1 year Full Time Equivalent role commencing early February 2024

Salary:

Will be Full time salary equivalent to Senior Registrar salary (or greater) and minimum salary package and requirements and conditions as required by law in the Hospital jurisdiction will apply

Further Information:

The unit has a record of training highly skilled oncoplastic surgeons. This is a strong oncoplastic unit. We have strong logbooks and trialled unaccredited 1 fellow for 1 year prior to offering 2 fellowships through BreastSurgANZ. We are above 450 new cancers per year with all the surgeons offering oncoplastic training.
